Teen Time: Baptism of the Lord Sunday (January 10th)

1st Sunday After Epiphany

Epiphany is the season after Christmas (the first set of green blocks), and separates the Advent/Christmas season from Lent/Easter. In Epiphany we learn about the beginnings of Jesus ministry and the calling of the disciples.

This week we are looking at Jesus’ Baptism.

These are an example of the vows taken on your behalf when you were baptized. What do you think?

Notice how God is called as a helper along the way? No one walks in faith alone. Also notice you are baptized into the entire Christian community, not just your home church.

Q: Do you believe in one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit?

A: I do, by the grace of God

Q: Do you believe in God, who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, and who works in us and others by the Spirit?

A: I do, by the grace of God.

Q: Do you believe in God, Source of love in Jesus Christ, love incarnate; and in the Holy Spirit, love’s power?

A: I do, by the grace of God.

Q: Desiring the freedom of new life in Christ, do you seek to resist evil and to live in love and justice?

A: I will, God being my helper.

Q: Will you follow in the way of Jesus Christ, resisting oppression and evil, seeking justice, and witnessing to God’s love for all creation?

A: I will, God being my helper.

Q: Will you join with your siblings in this community of faith to celebrate God’s presence, live with respect to creation, and love and serve others?

A: I will, God being my helper.

Q: In baptism, [insert your name/baby’s name here] marks an important step in their journey of faith. Will you care for them and help them to take their place within the mission and witness of Christ’s Church?

A: I will, God being my helper.

Q: Will you share your faith with [insert your name/baby’s name here], growing with them in faith, hope and love?

A: I will, God being my helper.

Just for fun
