Trinity Sunday
The long green season is called ‘Proper’ or ‘Even time’, or sometimes the “Weeks after Pentecost”. This is how we spend half our year. During Even Time we listen to the stories of Jesus that are not part of Christmas and Easter: Parables, Jesus’ healing folks, Jesus’ teaching about God’s world and Jesus showing us how to treat each other.
The only name God reveals to us in scriptures is “I am” or “I will be who I will be”. All the other names of God are human created.
Names of God: notice how Jesus, who is God in human form, has many more names? That is because people had real life encounters and conversations with him which helped develop relationship. That was the point of Jesus being human – for us to understand God better, and to learn how God wanted us to live and treat each other.
