Read John 9:1-41 with your family.
Sometimes when something hard happens, people start asking, “Whose fault is it?” In the story this week, the disciples see a man who cannot see, and they wonder who did something wrong to cause it. But Jesus tells them that they are asking the wrong question.
Instead of looking for someone to blame, Jesus invites them to see something different. He says that God’s work can be shown in what happens next. In other words, what matters most is not pointing fingers, but paying attention to what good we can do right now.
There are times when people around us are struggling – maybe someone is left out at school, someone is sad, or someone needs help. We could spend time wondering why it happened, but Jesus shows us a better way.
We can ask: “What can I do to help?” When we choose kindness, include someone who feels left out, or help someone who needs it, we are helping God’s love shine in the world.
