Read Matthew 10:24-39 with your family.
Have you ever wanted to try something new, but someone said, “We’ve never done it that way before”? Maybe you wanted to make up a new game, try a new recipe, or help someone in a different way. It can be scary to do something different, especially when other people aren’t sure about it.
In our Bible story this week, Jesus tells his friends not to be afraid. He knew that following God’s way wouldn’t always be easy. Sometimes doing the right thing means being brave. Sometimes it means speaking up, helping someone who is left out, or trying something new even when other people don’t understand.
Jesus didn’t come to make sure everyone stayed comfortable. He came to show us how to love, forgive, and make the world better. That kind of love can change people – and change can feel uncomfortable. But God is with us when we are scared and when we are brave.
So don’t be afraid to ask, “Why not?” Maybe God has put a wonderful idea in your heart. Be kind. Be curious. Be brave. You never know how God might use one small act of love to change the world.
